It's time for the relays in the Olympic Stadium with the final of the men's 4x400m relay that could see Britain's rivalry with USA reach fresh heights, while the men's 4x100m relay qualifications get under way before the women's final in the same event. The eye-catching pink and blue pitch of the Riverbank Arena hosts the final of the women's hockey final while two taekwondo medals are up for grabs, for which Lutalo Muhammad and Sarah Stevenson are GB's hopes. In the women's 470 sailing Saskia Clark and Hannah Mills will target gold in Weymouth and Portland while Shanaze Reade will finally be able to bury the bitter memory of Beijing when she crashed out on the final bend of the BMX women's final. Victory for Reade on home soil in the BMX track will surely erase the pain from four years ago. In the Aquatics Centre, reigning world champion Qiu Bo of China is the man to beat in the men's 10m platform diving event.

Playing the Games celebrates sporting and cultural talent at the Criterion Theatre with two weeks of plays, lunchtime talks and late-night comedy. The ‘Lunchtimes With…’ segment takes leading performers from stage and screen and tasks them with interviewing world-renowned sporting legends and Olympians and British film star Clive Owen will be talking to Adrien Niyonshuti, the first ever Rwandan mountain biker to qualify for the Olympic Games. Over at The Proms, Sir Mark Elder directs a stellar cast and large-scale choral forces, including the Halle Choir, Youth Choir and London Philharmonic Choir, as they remember the life and works of Ivor Novello. Lou Reed is set to play a one off show at the Antony Hegarty-curated Meltdown festivals at the Southbank Centre this summer. Taking to the stage at Royal Festival Hall with his band for one night only, the ‘Walk on the Wild Side’ and ‘Perfect Day’ musician will perform tracks from both his solo career and his work with The Velvet Underground. A life-sized inflatable Stonehenge is making its way up and down the United Kingdom as part of the London 2012 Festival and, on August 10th, this interactive piece of art arrives at Alexandra Palace. Created by Turner Prize-winning artist Jeremy Deller, the inflatable replica, named ‘Sacrilege’, is travelling the nation encouraging visitors of all ages to dress up, have a bounce on a British landmark and rediscover their inner child. Specialist puppet makers from the Little Angel Theatre team up the V&A Museum of Childhood to put on a puppet making experience for kids aged 5-11. Children will have the opportunity to create their own puppets and practise simple manipulation techniques to help bring them to life.
