Visitor Information
The National Trust's Rainham Hall is located to the east of London and is a striking Georgian house. Built in 1729 for Captain John Harle, a local merchant, in the Queen Anne style, it is still remarkably intact today. For two centuries it was a great importance to Rainham Village as it connected village life with river commerce. During its fascinating history the building has operated as a day nursery for local children between 1943 and 1954 and during the 1960s was home to Vogue photographer, Anthony Denney. Now open to the public, the house has some beautiful rooms, a carefully crafted mahogany staircase and the gardens are free to explore.
