Closed since 2007, this former Victorian workhouse and psychiatric hospital in Mile End is set to be redeveloped to become home to the UK's first urban Community Land Trust. With work set to get under way in 2014, St Clement's Hospital nevertheless opened to the public in the summer of 2013 for the first time since its construction, 165 years ago, with an arts festival, the St Clement's Social Club, and Shuffle, a programme of films curated by Danny Boyle. Once complete, the St Clement's regeneration programme should include 250 commercial residential properties, a community space, arts space, nursery space and a place to do and see interesting things.
