Whitehall is a historic London street with runs from Parliament Square at Westminster to Trafalgar Square. The street is recognised as the centre of the British Goverment thanks to the many departmental and ministerial buildings located either side, including Number 10, the Prime Minister's official residence, which is on Downing Street. Half way down Whitehall, in the centre of the road, is the Cenotaph, the monument where poppy wreaths are laid each year by heads of state and army veterans on Remembrance Sunday.
