Across the road from Chinatown, a pub had stood on the site of The Blue Posts at 28 Rupert Street since 1739. Taken on by siblings Zoe and Layo Paskin - the duo behind The Palomar, The Barbary and Jacob the Angel - in 2017, the Soho pub is also home to The Mulwray wine and cocktail lounge on the first floor and Evelyn's Table, an intimate kitchen bar, in the former beer cellar. David Archer of Archer Humphryes Architects - whose portfolio includes Chiltern Firehouse and the penthouse apartments at Television Centre - was tasked with creating a different look and feel for each floor. Dark grey drinks cabinets and pink velvet bar stools create a cosy place for cocktails on the first floor, the ground floor pub is a welcoming space with high ceilings, large windows and a solid pewter bar and chef Luke Robinson has created a Southern European menu for Evelyn's Table. This being a free house, the choice of beers and ciders is wide and varied, so you'll find ales like Dennis Hopp'r IPA and Rebel Cwtch as well as bottled Belgium beers and Bulgarian wines.
