Z Soho (nothing to do with the Zetter, in case you were wondering) is aimed squarely at those who want cheap but stylish accommodation, slap bang in the city centre. Erm, yes please. The price you pay (singles start at an affordable £85, doubles £110) gets you a compact and bijou room to call your own. Don't expect space - look at that price, it doesn't buy you space - but you do get a certain amount of style including an en suite wet room and good gadgetry like a 40-inch Samsung Smart TV which allows you to surf the web and play your iPhone or iPad on your TV. And, get this, there's free Wi-Fi too. Founded by Bev King, former COO of Thistle Hotels, the hotel is a mix of old and new - "classic architectural proportions, combined with contemporary style" as they say - and is made up of 12 connected townhouses, including some listed buildings, located in a triangle between Charing Cross Road, Old Compton Street and Moor Street. Inside the 85 rooms are set around a central courtyard and they've got their own cafe at the back, accessed from Old Compton Street, serving drinks, light bites and all day breakfast. Just don't get too comfortable - the diminutive room size will soon see you exploring the city, rather than enjoying a duvet day.
