Started by Alfred Cooke in 1899, the family run pie and mash shop A. Cookes has been in the same family for three generations and has been at the current premises at 48 Goldhawk Road, Shepherds Bush, since 1934. A. Cookes has been upholding that fine British tradition of dining on jellied eels for over a hundred years. The shop was used in the film Quadraphenia and the BBC prop department used to be located at the rear of the premises. Come for pie, mash and eel and you'll get to experience one of the few remaining traditional London caffes.
