Could this be the poshest fried chicken restaurant in London? Chick 'n' Sours in Dalston has a short, punchy menu of free-range, herb-fed fried chicken, whimsical sides, sour cocktails, local beers and soft-serve ice-cream. DJ-turned-chef Carl Clarke, maestro of the quirky London pop-up and Sam Dunne (formerly of The Rotary and Milk & Honey) give diners a straightforward menu of a Guest Fry and a House Fry, finished off with Carl's signature seaweed crack seasoning and served with an Asian-inspired pickled watermelon and peanut salad. Veggies are catered for with Chinese steamed turnip cake based on soy pickled shiitake mushrooms and a secret flour mix. Sides include choices of sprouting broccoli, seaweed mayo and pickled green beans, Laksa peas and coconut cashews, and grilled kimchi with Japanese mayo and crispy chicken skin. And, to finish, there's Weetabix, Cinnamon Bun or White Chocolate and Miso with Milk Crumb soft-serve ice cream.
