Open as a six month residency in Shoreditch, Emile is the first joint venture from Damian Clisby, former chef director of Petersham Nurseries, and Nick Gibson, owner of award-winning Islington gastropub The Drapers Arms. Named after Damian's grandfather, the 40-seat restaurant at 26 Curtain Road signals a return to hands-on cooking for Damian, creating hearty food with a Mediterranean influence. Feasting lunches offer a set menu served family-style at a single sitting every other Sunday from 27th October 2019. On Damian's daily changing menu are pecorino, pear and pumpkin with speck, celeriac, cavolo nero, apple and toasted rye bread as well as potato and butter ravioli with porcini. Venison loin and pork rib for two to three people are among the meaty mains, followed by chocolate and hazelnuts for pudding. To drink, Nick has put together a "short, interesting and competitively priced" wine list with predominantly Old World wines, "from accessible classics to wine-geek curiosities".
