Trendy US burger chain Five Guys, which has more than 1,000 restaurants in North America and counts Barack Obama among its fans, opened its flagship UK outlet at 1-3 Long Acre in summer 2013. Five Guys, which takes its name from the founding Murrell family's five brothers, only serves fresh ground beef and will fly ingredients over from the US if they have to. The chain doesn't offer meals but instead sells everything individually so you pick your own sides and toppings - options include burgers, hot dogs, breakfast rolls and grilled cheese sandwiches. Sides are fries and Cajun fries while drinks include an impressive number of Coca-Cola variations - for a milkshake with your burger visit the nearby Villiers Street branch. With rival American burger chain Shake Shack also in Covent Garden, launched the day after Five Guys opened, this part of central London is suddenly the place to be for the best US style burgers.
