Set around a central 100 seat dine-in courtyard, the flagship Japan Centre store offers a three-in-one for fans of Japanese food, cooking and cuisine. As well as the main food hall, selling all the ingredients Japan Centre is known for, from soy sauce to seaweed, the building houses The Tea Room, where customers can order tea by the gram and sample teas, guided by knowledgeable staff. In The Sake Room you can browse, sample and purchase sake with experts on hand to help. Finally, The Miso Room you can taste and learn about the different uses of miso and buy your own own, surrounded by barrels of the stuff. See how it's done in the demo kitchen at the entrance where customers can take out food from the main sozai deli counter. Choose from ramen, hand pulled udon, Japanese curry as well as gyoza and tempura. The overall look and feel - by CADA Design, whose clients include Dean & Deluca - is bright, light and modern with traditional authentic Japanese materials like paper lighting, birch and light woods.
