Atul Kochhar, the first Indian chef in the world to receive a Michelin star, launched his new venture in 2019 with the opening of Kanishka on Mayfair's Maddox Street. Created in partnership with Tina English, former commercial director of Cinnamon Club, the restaurant explores the lesser known regions of India with dishes that showcase the food of territories such as the Seven Sister States in the most eastern region of the country. Kochhar's cooking also explores the influences that neighbouring countries such as Nepal, China and Bangladesh have on the states. Signature dishes include the likes of Venison Kachela Maas, a Sikkim inspired venison tartare, and Seafood Alleppey Curry, a dish of pan seared seafood and coconut and turmeric sauce. The drinks are also a big part of the experience with a range of signature cocktails and more than 50 different whiskies to choose from, many of which have been sourced from India.
