Virgilio Martinez's Lima, the first Peruvian restaurant to win a Michelin star, expanded to a second site on Covent Garden's Garrick Street in mid July 2014. In Lima Floral Peruvian chef Virgilio Martinez and his partners, Gabriel and Jose Luis Gonzalez have two spaces: the main restaurant and a 'piqueos bar', a bar serving tapas dishes. The menu, overseen by Martinez and head chef Robert Ortiz, features some of Lima's most popular dishes. Highlights include scallops with chia ceviche, Amazonian fish with warm causa and kholrabi and quinoa tiradito. New tastes and experiences include innovative use of rare native Peruivan ingredients from the Amazon and the Andes. The bar menu, ideal for sharing, includes small piqueo dishes like grouper with rocoto tiger's milk ceviche and tuna and seared aubergine tiradito. B3 designers, also responsible for Gymkhana, Bubbledogs and Roka, have transformed the historic building, originally built as a monastery, making use of large arched windows to create a bright and airy dining room on the ground floor. In the comfortable drinking den in the basement cocktails are variations on the classic Pisco Sour - Pisco, lime juice, egg white, sugar syrup and bitters - are shaken with ice to a frothy finish.
