Quentin Blake style drawings and trompe l'oeil wallpapers drawn on with monochrome marker pen set the tone at The Dolls House, the second such venture from Adam Towner and Katy Gray Rosewarne. A warren of rooms take you from the ground floor Parlour to the first floor Drawing Room and the Library complete with Espresso Martini Bar and up to the second floor Ballroom - all inspiring spaces to hire for private and corporate events. You don't have to be a member to dine here but membership - which gets you into the private members' lounge, licensed till 4am - is refreshingly affordable and simple. To become a member all you need is the online application and a bottle of posh liquor from their approved gift list when you come for the first time. Food comes from Daryl Wilson (The Salt House, Ampersand and pop up the Poachers Pocket Supper Club) who has created a menu of classic dishes created from locally sourced ingredients like 45-day aged Dexter Sirloin and duck fat chips. Cocktails continue that classic approach with subtle tongue-tingling twists on traditional tinctures such as the Amaretto, Whisky or Pisco Sour, Negroni or Old Fashioned - all of which blend rather nicely with the generally laid back and funky choice of music including live jazz and resident DJs Bex, Alex (Bear Grooves) and Jack in the ground floor Parlour.
