A modern take on the great British carvery, brought to London by an Australian, The Stoke House combines top quality meat cuts with self-service. Will Ricker (of La Bodega Negra fame) brings his pocket-friendly concept to Victoria's foodie hub, the newly-built Nova development. Set in a contemporary bustling dining hall with craft beers, wines straight from the barrel and some great music to add to the mix, the Stokehouse is cool and casual. Service is of the do-it-yourself variety. Choose your meat at the counter and pay according to its weight. Specially selected cuts of beef, lamb, pork and whole chickens are cooked in the impressive wood fire smoker. Add a few sides and salads made from the restaurant's arresting 'living salad wall' and you have all the makings of the British carvery, dragged into the 21st century.
Will Ricker's other London restaurants include E&O, XO and Eight Over Eight and he's also launching a second food store at the Nova development in SW1, Juice Well, specialising in organic cold-press juices and smoothies.
