Opened in 2015, Marco Pierre White's Wheeler's Oyster Bar & Grill was billed as a 'revitalisation' of the Wheeler's brand after the chef sold his flagship Wheeler's of St James's restaurant the year previous. Located in a former bank in the heart of the City - within the Threadneedles London hotel - the grand restaurant draws on influences from the oldest fish brand in the world, with the menu "tweaked and evolved to create an offer that is more in tune with what today's customers want". The result is a crowd-pleasing combination of old favourites such as rock oysters, Wheeler's classic fish pie, and Windsor ham and fried duck eggs alongside new additions inspired by White's traditional French cooking, such as roast chicken with woodland mushrooms, lobster thermidor and lamb a la dijonnaise. Puddings are familiar favourites, with the cheesecake and chocolate brownie both successfully delivering the indulgence you would expect, and the service is swift and professional.
