In September 2019, Bermondsey institution Village East becomes the Loyal Tavern as ex Duck & Waffle executive chef Tom Cenci teams up with Adam White to transform the site into a brand new bar and restaurant. The former textile factory's beautiful interiors have been given a Tavern makeover, drinks are by bar manager, Antonio Del Monte (previously at The Ned) and Tom's produce led menu puts the focus on simple dishes such as Cornish mackerel or venison tartar with beef dripping. Daily specials also feature so you can choose from dishes like rib of retired dairy cow or gurnard with crab bisque, carrot and seaweed. With two bars, a broad beer selection, private dining room and enough seating for 100, it all amounts to a superbly relaxed pub and restaurant serving the best of seasonal British produce.
