Cocktails incorporating homemade aromatics hark back to the heritage of the site of The Distillery , the bar within the Hilton London Bankside hotel, which used to be a renowned essence factory in 1800s. Located on the spot where Stevenson & Howell's Standard Works previously stood, The Distillery honours their fragrant work with cocktails made with infusions and bitters. Gins and local craft beers are also served at the Bankside bar, a buzzy meeting point for locals and residents where sharing platters and bar snacks are prepared by the Hilton's OXBO Bankside restaurant. Light bites include chick pea and tahini hummus with warm garlic khobez bread and five spice dusted crisp fried pork belly with chilli, lime and soy dressing. The colour scheme - all greens, mustard yellows and browns - matches the seltzer bottles decorating the bar and the large, modern copper sheet sculpture on the stairs to the ballroom. Special guests can make their own contribution by adding their pennies to the Penny Wall in the entrance of the bar - made with coins dating back to the 1860s.
