The Royal College of Physicians is the oldest royal medical college in England and Wales, and marks its 500th anniversary in 2018. Housed in a Grade I listed building designed by Sir Denys Lasdun, the Royal College of Physicians opened in its current headquarters next to Regent's Park in 1964. It is widely considered a modernist masterpiece and one of London's most important post-war buildings - it's one of only ten Grade I listed post-war buildings in England. Its collections relate to the history of the medical college, and to the physician's profession. Collections in the museum and library range from portraits to medical instruments and include the Hoffbrand collection of apothecary jars, anatomical tables and a rare set of six 17th century human remains. The building is also home to seminar and lecture halls, meeting rooms, banquet suite and medicinal gardens containing over 1,000 species of plants.
