Visitor Information
The first (only?) Polish jazz venue in London, the Jazz Cafe POSK in Hammersmith puts on a lively programme of Polish jazz music. Those unfamiliar with the origins of Polish jazz may be surprised to learn it has a long tradition and extremely vibrant scene. Famous artists include composer and pianist Krzysztof Komeda, trumpeter Tomasz Stanko, violinist Michael Urbaniak, vocalist Urszula Dudziak and groups such as the legendary Komeda sextet. The Jazz Cafe, attached to the POSK (Polish Social & Cultural Association) on King Street, provides an attractive modern setting for the regular jazz concert featuring Polish, British and other jazz musicians and singers. There are also regular workshops for young musicians and art exhibitions showing Polish jazz posters and photographs.
