The Yard theatre occupies a unique warehouse space - where the concrete floor and corrugated roof are clearly visible - located two minutes from Hackney Wick rail station. Designed and built by Practice Architecture, in collaboration with Christopher Daniel, the dormant warehouse in Queen's Yard has been split into two sections - one housing the theatre, and the other the bar, open Tuesdays to Saturdays from 6pm till late, where exhibitions, poetry readings, film screenings, live bands and visiting DJs regularly feature. Also in the bar is the dressing room, a semi-transparent light box so you can see the actors' silhouettes as they prepare for their performances. Made with recycled and reclaimed material, the theatre seats 130 in amphitheatre style seating. The stage is large, with four performer entrances and exits with excellent acoustics.
