A venue desperately trying to stand out from all the other 'cool' or 'trendy' places in London's up and coming cool capital, Shoreditch, The Book Club definitely deserves its place in the running. Trying to create a new cultural revolution, the Scandinavian designed bar's aim is to fuse alcohol with brain power, every 20 to 30 year olds mantra. Vintage touches such as the cushions on the old kitchen chairs, expected in these parts, the bar showcases club nights alongside evening classes, special talks by interesting thinkers and special screenings. Encouraging late night drinking with their variety of evening entertainment, the drinks are served from breakfast to last orders. The entertainment and activities include: art, music, film, fashion, philosophy, design, science, and perhaps the odd spot of DIY and home economics - a collection which inspired the Independent to describe the venue as '...currently the venue for hip literary events'.
