New Zealanders take their burgers pretty seriously, and back in 2001 three Kiwis living in London found themselves homesick from the lack of well-crafted quality burgers in the UK. Hence, Gourmet Burger Kitchen was born and has been spreading like wildfire ever since with branches popping up everywhere between Brighton and Edinburgh. The British public have warmly embraced the inventive fillings and freshly made sauces and GBK has become a high-street favourite for good quality fast-food. All the burgers are made to order so you won't find any unwanted gherkins lurking between your buns, which are made by their own artisan baker. GBK celebrates its origins with the whopping Kiwiburger, a mad mix of beef, beetroot, egg, pineapple, aged cheddar, salad, mayo and relish. Keen charity givers, GBK donate 25p from every kiwiburger towards saving the 'cutest endangered species on the planet' and New Zealand's national bird. You guessed it, the kiwi. Along with many beef varieties they also sell chicken, lamb and buffalo burgers. Veggie options and a junior menu are also available.
