Pho aims to do for Vietnamese soups what Wagamama did for Japanese noodles. The decor is clean and simple, service is extremely rapid, and the menu consists of variations on a couple of simple dishes. The signature is the Pho soup, a rich broth filled with meat, noodles and vegetables. Starters are mostly wraps and rolls. There's a fun build-your-own element to both courses - the soups come with a sideplate of chillis, coriander, sweet basil and other flavourings that can be added as you go along, while you'll find yourself making your own wraps from lettuce leaves and sauces. There's little on offer here for anyone afraid of unusual food (and as a result, Pho will never achieve the ubiquity of Wagamamas), but Londoners are mostly an adventurous bunch, who will lap up this healthy, exotic and sensibly priced restaurant.
