First we had the Rivington Bar & Grill in Shoreditch now comes the Rivington Greenwich, part of the Greenwich Picturehouse building on Greenwich High Road. So you can book in for a movie and a top class meal under one roof. Those who've already frequented the original Rivington will be familiar with the back-to-basics style of British cooking that you also get here. The difference is the clientele. While Shoreditch is the haunt of many a trendy young thing, Greenwich is an older, more conservative scene where people are suspicious of anything that looks like it's trying too hard - and charging too much for it. This, however, is one of only a handful of places in the area where you can get top quality British food. The Rivington may not be exactly of the calibre of The Ivy, Le Caprice and J Sheekey but all restaurants are owned by the same group. With any luck the Greenwich locals will come to appreciate what they have on their doorstep and, despite some disgruntled customers unimpressed with their cheese on toast for £7, lunch and dinner reservations are strongly advised on the weekends.
