Steam & Rye is the latest creation of Nick House - best known for Whisky Mist, Punch Bowl, Mahiki and Bodos Schloss - who has teamed up with actress Kelly Brook for this vast bar-restaurant-club in the City. Described by the owners as a "magical wonderland harking back to 1940s Americana" there are plenty of American references - tying in with the building's original purpose as the 'Bank of New York' in the City of London. Five rooms offer capacity for 550 people and there's over 9,000 square feet of space given over to a late night bar with a 3am liquor licence, a restaurant and live music venue outlandishly decorated with an Eastern Pacific steam train dining carriage, a living clock, exotic animals, a cargo room of eccentricities - altogether an overwhelming assault on the senses.
