Bengal Lancer restaurant in London's popular Kentish Town is a complete local gem and the favourite curry restaurant of many Londoners. The Indian menu is chockablock with your favourite subcontinental dishes, but it also offers intriguing specialties that are exclusive to the Bengal Lancer, like chicken chasnidargh made with a unique sauce. Many Indian restaurants claim to offer authentic cuisine, but in the case of the Bengal Lancer it is absolutely true and has been since 1985, as the freshest ingredients, creativity, long-nurtured skill are all apparent in each and every dish. The interior is a confection of deep scarlet and stylish black with leather banquettes, modern artworks and undressed tables for a smart casual look. The food, though, is worth crossing town for.
