The home of one of West London's finest beer gardens, The Eagle has had an amusingly potty redesign by Geronimo Inns that has turned a shabby old Shepherd's Bush boozer into a riot of odd sculptures, patterned wallpaper and funky mood lighting. It works surprisingly well, with a cheery but still pub-like atmosphere, and a lovely terrace overlooking the trim garden. The food is proper gastropub fare - starters like a hot chorizo, black pudding and quails egg salad offer a good mixture of flair and simplicity while steak and kidney pudding is typical of the main courses on offer. This remains a destination in summer, and is now well worth a visit in the indoor months as well.
