An Oxford Street institution - trading now for nearly 150 years, John Lewis mightn't have the glitz of its Knightsbridge department store counterparts, but it makes up admirably with quality goods and truly excellent service. Fashion, fabrics, kitchens, electrical goods, toiletries and toys, with 20 departments spanning seven floors, this is a complete shopping experience with everything from the smallest detail to the whole shebang. The staff have a great knowledge of their products and, refreshingly, the standard of service remains the same after you've bought something too. Plus, they deliver for free to most places in London.
