Once the tallest building in the United Kingdom (a title it held from 1991 until 2012 when The Shard rose above it), One Canada Square is at the heart of Canary Wharf. Topped by a flashing aircraft-warning light, Cesar Pelli's 235-metre (773 feet) tower is visible from almost any high vantage point in Greater London. The iconic One Canada Square is home to major international companies and several major national newspapers and has become a symbol of the regeneration of London's Docklands: most Londoners refer to it simply as 'Canary Wharf'. If you happen to be in the area, it's well worth going for a close look at both the grandeur of the architecture and the spectacular marble-clad lobby - made from 90,000 square feet of Italian and Guatemalan marble - or to visit One Canada Square Restaurant.
