Hotels near Mint Leaf

Mint Leaf is huge. There's a crowded cocktail bar giving on to two large dining rooms. Low lighting, solid wood furniture and delightfully squishy seats create an opulent setting. You can expect a superior Caipirinha, well presented starters of Punjabi Jingha (prawns in yoghurt) and Paneer Rampuri (grilled cottage cheese), with light but distinct flavours. To follow there's Chatpata Seena (duck breast with tamarind sauce and pilau rice). At £17 you would think ‘duck breast’ might translate into ‘duck breasts’ but no such luck. You'd do well to supplement the diminutive meal with excellent side dishes of Dal Makhni (lentils) and Cucumber Raiti. The Tandoori Mixed Grill, happily, is slightly larger and very tasty. Wash down with a glass of Bourgogne which stands up well to the curry flavours, or opt for a non-alcoholic but superb Mint Lhassi. To finish you could try a fabulous banana tatin matched by some dessert wine. Mint Leaf had a lot of class, but the food left us feeling as if we had been flirted with. It was pretty good but there wasn't enough of it.
