Offering affordable art, Degree Art sells, commissions and rents out art works - painting, photography, sculpture and prints - created by students and recent graduates from well known art colleges and establishments. While the venture started as a website - www.DegreeArt.com - in 2003, it now has a permanent home in the artistically vibrant Vyner Street - where a clutch of galleries and artists' studios have sprung up. Each summer, final year Fine Art and Design students participate in Degree Shows which represents the culmination of their course work. Often it's the first time artists have exhibited their work to a wider audience - beyond their peer group and lecturers. The Degree Art gallery, set up by two young graduates, Elinor Olisa and Isobel Beauchamp, in their final year of university, taps into this rich hunting ground, giving us improved access to the next generation of Bright Young Things.
